Aisling Farinella’s top five Dublin cocktail bars and nightclubs

Dublin is perhaps best known for its pubs and mighty Guinness brewery, but there are cocktail bars and nightclub events to explore, too. We asked stylist and magazine editor Aisling Farinella for a different take on the city come “beer o’clock”.

Sophie’s at The Dean.

Sophie’s at The Dean

“This is the place to be at the moment.” The Dean hotel is a hipster’s paradise and Sophie’s bar is housed on its top floor, allowing for panoramic views. Thinking of You, Cat’s Meow and Monk’s Martini are some of the cocktails served.

Vintage Cocktail Club, aka VCC

Hidden behind an inconspicuous door marked with three white letters, VCC, this higher-end, vintage inspired drinking establishment serves cocktails of eras past as well as modern inventions such as the beer cocktail. Guinness has found its way into one of them – the Jameson’s Gate Schooner.

Together Disco

Together Disco arranges some of the best club nights in Dublin according to Farinella. Since it doesn’t have a permanent home, one needs to keep an eye on its Facebook page to learn when and where Together Disco will strike next.

Mother Club

One of Aisling Farinella’s top recommendations for dancing. “This is actually a gay club but everyone goes there since it’s a fun and friendly place playing good music.”

Liquor Rooms.

Liquor Rooms

“This shabby chic, subterranean bar stretches across four rooms. It serves an extensive list of cocktails crafted by mixologist Kevin Hurley and his team.” The cognac infused Docs Gigglewaterto and the whiskey based Giant’s Gate are two of the Liquor Rooms’ house cocktails.
